Hibernia and Atrato Announce Connectivity Deal

Atrato IP Networks picks Hibernia Atlantic to provide high-speed additional capacity on routes between Europe and the US.

According to Atrato, the deal is a result of a rapid growth in business which necessitates an expansion if its trans-Atlantic network routes. The company has major points of presence in over 15 countries and connects to more than 20 internet exchanges points. It maintains levels of at least 200 percent capacity on its network to guarantee performance during times of high traffic volume.

Hibernia operates a submarine and terrestrial fiber optic network totalling more than 24,000km in length. It provides a diverse selection of high-capacity services including Ethernet, DTM and optical-level service up to GigE, 10G and LanPhy wavelengths and traditional SONET/SDH services. According to the company, its network is ‘monitored and maintained 24x7 to ensure 100 percent availability and optimal performance’.

The new partnership will see Hibernia providing additional network capacityon routes between Ashburn and Chicago; Chicago and New York; London and New York; New York and Ashburn; and London and Amsterdam.

Commenting on the deal, Atrato CTO Michiel Muhlenbaumer said: “Hibernia Atlantic’s secure and diverse transatlantic connectivity enables Atrato to deliver on the trust that customers place in us to handle their most sensitive data traffic.
